Thelma Segal served on the staff of the American Friends Service Committee in the United States and abroad for nearly thirty years. Upon retirement she was admitted to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she majored in painting. She has also studied at the Barnes Foundation in Merion, PA; the Fleisher Art Memorial and the Woodmere Art Museum, both in Philadelphia. In addition, she has attended numerous painting workshops in the United States and abroad, including instruction in Wales, Switzerland}, France, Scotland, Mexico and Canada.

Polo Players" Among the prizes and awards she has received are the Marie Donaldson Water Color Prize at the 92nd Annual Student Exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; the Gold Sable Award for Excellence in Water Color at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts held in State College, PA, where she was one of 67 artists from eight states and the District of Columbia selected from 474 entries; she was juried into the 97th Annual Fellowship Show of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where her painting was one of 76 selected from nearly 500 entries. She has also won a number of prizes from the Philadelphia Senior Center and from the Plastic Club. She received the Palladium Restaurant prize, the Juror's Distinction Award at the Tim Mark Endowment Exhibit at the Penn State Delaware County Campus in Media, PA and a water color prize from the Main Line Chamber of Commerce exhibit held at the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA.

been shown in many group exhibitions in Delaware Valley galleries,
in some solo shows and are included in a number of private collections.
Ms. Segal is a member of the Alumni Association of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Fellowship of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Woodmere Art Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Plastic Club, the Philadelphia Tri-State Artists Equity and is an Associate Member of the Philadelphia Water Color Society.
