Heather Siple

Photographer

Heather Siple's work focuses on finding the extraordinary in her every-day world. Although her subjects vary widely, her favorites come from the mystical, magical qualities she finds in the natural world and in her own back yard. Climbing into odd places and crawling in the dirt are all part of her exploration. A self-taught artist from an artistic family, Siple's work has appeared in publications, museums and galleries across the USA, and in shows in Spain and Argentina. In 2001, she was named an Individual Artist Fellow in Photography by the State of Delaware.

One of the most common subjects of Siple's work is botanical life. She has long held a deep interest in the natural world, an interest that began when she was quite young. Although this interest began as largely scientific, it has become far more spiritual in recent years. This spirituality ties her to the region, yet bolsters her as well. In recent years, it has come to hold a more spiritual place her heart and life. It is this faith in the value and beauty around her that Siple chose to make the focus of much of her work.
