My best photography is about accidents: the accident of having my camera ready at the right moment; the accident of light or expression; or the accident of attention. But also, it is about how I interpret those accidents and mold them into a personal expression of beauty, humor, compassion or insight. It is 2/3 intuition and 1/3 intellect.
First developed an interest in photography as an adolescent under the tutelage of Paul Wing, a New York professional photographer. Self taught except for occasional classes here and there.
Started to show in 1986 using a Nikon F3 HP and traditional silver gelatin printing process. Added a Contax G2 range finder in 2000, a Canon digital camera in 2002 and a Nikon D200 in 2006. Since moving to Philadelphia in 2003, I have switched exclusively to digital processing using Adobe Photoshop.
