Beatrice Fenton

1887 - 1983

Beatrice Fenton taught at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. She was a well-known sculptor of figures and animals, frequently in a water setting. Some of her sculpture can be seen on the web. One of these is her figure of "Narcissus," leaning forward to admire himself in a pool at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland. In the University's sculpture garden her sculpture is displayed along with works by Rodin and Degas.

Thomas Eakins painted her in the canvas titled 'The Coral Necklace'. This painting is on display at The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown Ohio.
